Review: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer

Review: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer

As I stated in my last review post, I am a primer hoarder. So since I’m waiting to lose my summer color, before I bought any of the Fenty Beauty foundation, I still needed to satisfy the makeup hypebeast within me so I bought the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Primer and the lip gloss.  Le sigh. My oily, sensitive skin just won’t let me win, though.

The feel of the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Primer is amazing. It’s like velvet and made my skin feel as such.  However, as I was putting it on I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was going to be a fail for me. The primer felt moisturizing. Now, this isn’t a bad thing if you have dry skin. But I have “working at McDonald’s at as a teen,” oily skin.  So any primer that isn’t strictly mattifying in description and feel, is probably going to be a loss for me.

For the sake of time and the fact that I know we mostly skim reviews anyway, here is a list of the pros and cons:

Pros

  • Velvety to the touch
  • Leaves a smooth base to apply foundation to
  • Moisturizing (a plus if you have dry skin)
  • Beautiful packaging

Cons

  • Does not control oil
  • Does not blur large pores
  • Clogged my pores and caused whiteheads (on me)
  • Didn’t help my foundation last any longer than without primer

I really, really wanted to like this primer, mainly because I lowkey stan for Rihanna and I want everything she does to flourish. But I had to be honest for the rest of my oily skin divas. When I try the foundation, I will let you know my thoughts too.
