Yesterday was a particularly productive day for me, besides being a holiday. Since I had just gotten back from a vacation and needed to reset my introvert batteries, I pretty much stayed in and did chores. I captured some great pics of my makeup while doing my laundry. Ordered my groceries. Got some work done, etc… Then it hit. It was a build up of, what felt like, never ending energy. I couldn’t sit long enough to watch tv or a movie, so I decided to try out some new makeup I had recently picked up. It was a rush job, but good enough to give an initial review.

This look is far from perfect partially because I was rushing and partially because the NYX Frame and Tame is crap. I couldn’t shape my eyebrows like a wanted to because the Frame and Tame is so creamy and it smears everywhere. It’s like trying to fill in your brows with colored margarine. But the NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer was able to help be carve them out a little better.
On the upside the NYX Total Control Foundation matched me quite well and gave a luminous finish. However, I will need to wear it with more that a base of moisturizer in order to hide my pores. Because I have sensitive skin, the jury is still out on whether or not it causes me to break out. But so far I like it. I highlighted under my eyes using NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer in Deep and set it with Sacha Powder in Buttercup. I had forgotten how ashy/pale it makes me look when I don’t dust it away with a darker powder. I’ll be going back to using my AJ Crimson setting powder from now on. I contoured using the NYX Mineral Foundation Stick in Cocoa and set it with Makeup Geek Contour Powder in Deal Breaker. I usually only contour with a powder, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone. The only drawback from using the foundation stick to contour was that it wasn’t dark enough.
Now onto the products that really impressed me. I added Makeup Geek’s Cocoa Bear as a transition color on and above my crease, then patted on the NYX Mixing medium and used a synthetic brush to apply the NYX pigment. Whoa! The color payoff is phenomenal. Word of advice, prime and apply color to one eye at a time. I placed the base on both lids then went in with the pigment and once the base starts to dry it doesn’t pick up the pigment as well. I then lined my eyes with my favorite liquid liner, Maybelline Line Stiletto, and Colourpop Creamy gel liner. The mascara was a Sephora sample of Diorshow, which was my go to in college. How I afforded that in college, I don’t know lol.
I finished everything off with the Becca and NYX blushes and set my face with the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. Of course, I had to highlight as well and that was down with L.A. Girl Strobing Powder in 40 Watt.
All in all, I liked all of my new products, except the NYX Tame and Frame brow pomade. You should see why in the pics. It is no dupe for the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Dip Brow. Also, keep in my mind, I wasn’t in my usual perfectionist headspace. So no laid edges and my blending wasn’t up to par. But mania will do that to you.
