Makeup Is My Favorite Souvenir

Makeup Is My Favorite Souvenir

I’m still on a high from my trip to Amsterdam. I also finally got to play in the makeup I bought. I’m still so glad that it seemed that every couple hundred feet there was another beauty store. From high end to drugstore. I only picked up a few items because I didn’t want to blow my budget on my first day. Some, such as Kiko Cosmetics can be found in the U.S., but others such as Flormar, I haven’t been able to find a U.S. supplier. So let’s begin, shall we.

Above we have Flormar Terracotta Blush-On in Pink Bronze. It’s technically a blush, but because it is a shimmery, baked product the shade I picked works best as a highlight on deeper skin tones. Because this was one of the lower cost items, sorry I forgot to keep the receipts so I can’t quote an exact price, I wasn’t expecting the color pay off I got when I swatched it. It’s so gorgeous and the shade name is a perfect description. Sorry that my photog skills don’t serve it justice. I’m working on getting better y’all.

Left to Right: Kiko Cosmetics Unlimited Double Touch Base Coat, Kiko Cosmetics Unlimited Double Touch Top Coat, Flormar Match Butter Lip Tint in Mulberry

Next up we have 2 lip colors. This first, another item from Flormar and the second from Kiko Cosmetics. ย The one from Flormar is the Match Butter Lip Tint in Mulberry. I don’t know when lip tints started becoming so pigmented, but I like it. The formula goes on like butter and is really moisturizing. The color is rich, but not so bold that it will overpower a look, and has a satin finish. The lip product from Kiko Cosmetics is the Unlimited Double Touch in Rouge Noir. The base coat is a deep burgundy liquid lipstick and the top coat is a clear gloss. To be honest the base coat was very glossy so I didn’t understand why the clear gloss was necessary. The clear gloss is supposed to make the color last longer, but I didn’t notice a difference in wear between just the base coat alone and the base and top coat.

The last of my makeup purchases was a Universal Stick Concealer in the shade Cognac. I’ve always been skeptical about stick concealers, especially since I mainly use them under my eyes and around my mouth and those areas get cakey and dry easily. But, I was on a shopping high and threw caution to the wind. So far I am really pleased with this purchase. The concealer glides on with ease, no tugging or pulling. The formula is moisturizing but doesn’t move around once set and has great coverage.

To my delight I saw that one o f the many stores I went into had BlackUp Cosmetics on display. I was hyped because although, we can now buy them online in the U.S., but I still haven’t found a place to go and swatch products in person here. I was all set to buy a concealer, but just my luck they were sold out. I also picked up some products from NYX while I was on a shopping high, but the next day returned them because I can get them here in the states for less.

Finally got to test BlackUp Cosmetics, but of course the concealer I wanted was sold out.
