Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer. My Bargain Beauty Steal That Turned Into a Bust

Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer. My Bargain Beauty Steal That Turned Into a Bust

Everyone close to me knows I almost never pay full price for anything. So I’m a frequent shopper of Amazon, Ebay, and most recently HauteLook. HauteLook happened to have a sale on Becca Cosmetics which had makeup Twitter in a tizzy. So I had to hop on the bandwagon and get me a little something as well. Having never been able to justify paying Becca prices I didn’t know what colors to get so I went off of photos of swatches I found online and made the decision to buy 2 of the Becca Radiant Skin Satin Foundations in Mink and Mahogany because they were only $10 each. Turns out I really like the formula, but only the Mahogany matched my skin tone. (Psssss. If you want to buy the Mink Foundation leave a comment)

I know you’re wondering now, where this turned into a beauty bargain bust. Well, in addition to the 2 foundations, I also picked up the Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer. I once again looked at swatches to make my decision, but mistakenly did not read any reviews. This is where I f*cked up y’all.

So a few weeks later my products come (let’s not get into my issues with how long HauteLook takes to ship stuff.) I open them after a long day of work, intending on giving them a once over and trying to see which foundation matches my skin best so I can give it a trial run the next day . After finding that the Mahogany shade was my best fit, I moved onto the concealer in Hazelnut. It comes in a clickable pen packaging and I swear I developed carpal tunnel syndrome turning the bottom so much to finally get the product to come out. Oh how disappointed I was when I saw what came out. It was a clump of thick, putty likeย gunk. In my head I was thinking, “Whose bright idea was it to put this in a pen?” If anything, this is a concealer that needs to be in a pot. Like the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (which I adore.)

The fails don’t stop at just the packaging though. It’s damn near impossible to work with. I put a little on the back of my hand to see if warming it up, then blending would do the trick. Nope, Nope, and a little more Nope. It’s impossible to blend because it dries so fast. I might as well have been trying to rub SFX putty into my skin.

I can’t even give you a review on how it wears because I never got it to my face. To tryย and work it into the skin would have involved too much tu

gging and pulling, and I’m trying to prevent wrinkles and cover the few that I have, not create more. The worst part of all of this is that HauteLook does not accept returns on beauty products. So I’m out $8 (I know that’s not a lot, but it’s the principle) and can’t even pawn this off on anyone else because I don’t want to put them through the struggle.IMG_5879

So let’s recap the Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer:

Pros:

  • the packaging is sleep and pretty

Cons:

  • the packaging is a pain in the ass to actually use
  • too thick to work with
  • it retails for $32

I think Becca may have been selling them on HauteLook because they are being discontinued (rightfully so) because I can no longer find them on their official website.
